Electrical conductivity of strongly magnetized dense quark matter - possibility of quantum Hall effect

Dr. Sabyasachi Ghosh and his collaborators - Dr. Jayanta Dey (Ex-PhD student from IIT Bhilai, at present doing Post-Doctoral Research at IIT Indoor), Dr. Aritra Bandyopadhayay (Post-Doctoral Researcher in SCNU, China), Mr. Akash Gupta and Mr. Naman Pujari (Ex-BTech students from IIT Bhilai, at present doing MS-Physics in LMU, Germany) have recently (March 30, 2023) published this work in the journal of Nuclear Physics A. They have demonstrated via kinetic theory calculations that electrical conductivity or resistivity of neutron stars may show quantized patterns because of its high magnetic field. Similar to condensed matter physics, Quantum Hall Effect can also be expected in Astro-Physics object like neutron stars or magnetar, carrying high magnetic fields.
