Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai was established in 2016 in Chhattisgarh, a state rich in natural resources as well as cultural memory and heritage. Our campus is at the outskirts of Bhilai, a growth engine which is a rare blend of tradition and modernity: a melting pot where communities from diverse backgrounds have found home and have been contributing towards nation-building in myriad ways. The institute pursues research-driven undergraduate and graduate education in order to foster responsible citizenship, technological leadership, and entrepreneurship. The Centre for Culture, Language, and Traditions (CCLT) has been established at IIT Bhilai as an interdisciplinary centre of excellence to accelerate socially impactful research. Established in 2024, CCLT is envisaged as an action-oriented research centre keeping in mind the shared and collective vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
CCLT aspires to nurture a multicultural and multilingual environment in IIT Bhilai. It will foreground the linguistic diversity, cultural pluralism, ecological wisdom, and collective memory of janjatiya communities of Chhattisgarh in particular and India in general. CCLT wishes to position IIT Bhilai as a leading global centre for excellence in research on issues of topical relevance to society at large.
