Dedication ceremony of IIT Bhilai permanent campus to the Nation




20 February 2024: The Ceremony of Dedication of the permanent campus of the Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai to the Nation took place on 20th February 2024. It was held at the Nalanda Lecture Hall of IIT Bhilai permanent campus. Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi dedicated the permanent campus of IIT Bhilai to the Nation through video conferencing. The event was graced by the august presence of Shri Dharmendra Pradhan (Hon’ble Union Minister, Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, GoI), Shri Vishnu Deo Sai (Hon’ble Chief Minister, Chhattisgarh), Dr. Jitendra Singh (Hon’ble Union MoS (I/c) for Science and Technology), Shri Manoj Sinha (Hon’ble Lt. Governor, J&K) and Shri Vijay Baghel (MP, Durg, Chhattisgarh). On this occasion IIT Bhilai BoG chairman Shri K Venkatraman welcomed the dignitaries and the Director Prof. Rajiv Prakash mentioned the salient features of the permanent campus. He informed that the IIT Bhilai campus is net zero campus of area around 400 Acers and built-up area of approx 1.5 lakhs sq.meters with state-of-the-art facilities having total 16 main building 25 auxiliary buildings, modern central instrument facility, engineering workshop, data centre, library and lecture hall theaters. In addition to academic block residencial block with three 12 stories buildings and hostel Bloks with four multistorey buildings and mess of 800 students capacity is also fully functional.
